From a suicide attempt to Comfort Via Discomfort... how we got here
with me, Adam Boismier
The Comfort Via Discomfort podcast is 1-year old! To celebrate this milestone and to honor all the guests and supporters of this show, we’re counting down the top 10 episodes from our first year.
Here is #6 with me, Adam Boismier!
——
Yes, I attempted suicide in 2013. Since then, intentionally getting outside of my comfort zone and learning how to be vulnerable have completely changed my mindset and have saved my life. It's now my mission to normalize conversations that we don't have in public and to help others embrace discomfort and vulnerability so they can live their best life.
In this episode I discuss:
My mindset in 2013 and what led to my suicide attempt
Why I decided to make 2018 my “Year of Discomfort” and how this “mental bootcamp” changed my life forever
How my friends, family, and even strangers helped me embrace discomfort
Why I started sharing stories of other people online
How a traumatic event in 2019 helped me understand the progress I had made
How therapy helped me to be open and vulnerable with my family and friends
How all of these experiences empowered me to be my authentic self
Why I'll never go back to avoiding discomfort
Now, I embrace discomfort and vulnerability on a regular basis and use it to pursue the life of my dreams. My hope is that the stories featured on this podcast help you to do the same.
